The Bins

We often refer to “The Bins.”

They are one landmark I can find.

They are also known as “Brent’s Bins” since they belong to him.

Having a place to store grain is a good thing because when you’re harvesting the trucks don’t have to wait in line at the elevator and you can sell your grain when you want/when you think the price is best. Could be some other benefits too, but I can only tell you what I know.

The corn is dumped into the pit. It goes up the “leg” (in the middle of the picture below) and then goes into whatever bin they have told it to go. They have some way to direct it other than yelling at the corn to “go into the middle bin on the right side!”  I just don’t know what that way is.
Anything else you’d like to know about bins?
