All About Books

I have lots of book related things rolling around in my head, but first let me tell you about the book I received for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for review purposes.

This Little Prayer of Mine is a great book for teaching young children about praying. I love how kids can learn from it that praying is more than just listing things you’re thankful for. It touches on being thankful, but also points to how we can ask God to help in a variety of situations, pray for forgiveness and pray for improved character.

“Please help me God, to be like you.

Give me your love to share.

I want to help the poor and sick and show them that I care.”

The entire book is a prayer that holds my kids’ attention without a problem. The real life drawings are excellent and help make it an even more likeable and understandable book for kids. It rhymes too, and I personally like reading children’s books that rhyme.

If you’re in the market for a new children’s book or are needing a gift for a young preschooler or preschool teacher, I’d say you should get this book!

If you click on the picture of the book it will take you to Amazon where you can see a few pages inside it. (If you’re wondering, I get nothing from Amazon if you buy it. I don’t think you can have affiliate links with wordpress.com. 😦 )

As for my other book thoughts…

-I recently added Loving the Little Years to my list of books I need to read after a strong recommendation from friend and fellow small town Nebraska dweller. I’ve had some days recently where I’ve needed some encouragement to better love these years.

Half Broke Horses is at the top of my list for books to read. It came in a special package that arrived at a very opportune time from Ann. She really enjoyed it, and I can’t wait to read it.

-Also in that package was Mary Engelbreit’s Nutcracker. It has the most adorable pictures and tells the story of the Nutcracker well. I actually didn’t know the story until I read this book. What a shame!

-Brad and I are going to try read through the New Testament this year using the 5 x 5 x 5 reading plan. It’s very doable and you could catch up easily if you’re interested.

That’s about all the book thoughts I have for now. Feel free to rate my review if you like. Just copy and paste this link and a little box will pop up.
